Chief Executive Officer
A dynamic senior global leader with 20+ years of progressive executive experience optimizing operational, financial, and talent development infrastructures. Mikell joined New Horizons on January 2, 2018 and CEO on March 29th.
Previous roles include CEO of a group of Advanced Learning Technology companies (Adayana, Vertex and Triple Impact) which were ultimately sold to a large technology services company in 2017; President of CTI, the world’s largest in-person coach training school and leader development firm; and President and COO of Roosevelt Thomas Consulting & Training (RTCT), a diversity management consulting and training organization. In additional Mikell held progressively responsible roles in her during her thirteen years with Franklin Covey, a global provider of learning and performance solutions. During her tenure, she transformed international sales and operations into a critical contributor and successful new business model for the company. In her last few years she served as President and helped lead the organization through a market repositioning to strengthen their position for years to come.
Mikell was featured in the book Global Explorers, The Next Generation of Leaders, which recognized her entrepreneurial spirit and successful global achievements. Originally from Toronto, she received a degree in Business Management at Sheridan and a BA in Sociology at the University of Western Ontario.
Executive Vice President of Products and Programs and Chief Strategy Officer
With an extensive career at New Horizons, Ms. Morris is a proven senior leader with a solid reputation in the industry. Ms. Morris has held various executive and leadership roles in enterprise and gov’t sales, business development, product and partner management, operations, marketing, and global strategies. Ms. Morris is internationally recognized for her contributions to the industry. She maintains close relationships with franchisees and IT/enterprise channels to provide strategic guidance around forward-looking collaboration and growth opportunities in areas such as IT Education, Professional Development, Professional Services, and Workforce Education. To help steer the industry past the ongoing challenges associated with digital transformation, marketplace disruption, and skills gap, Ms. Morris has been invited to serve on several IT industry and education advisory groups to provide leadership and vision.
Senior Director – New Horizons English
Nicola Merchant joined the New Horizons team in November 2014 and leads the New Horizons English department. Prior to joining New Horizons, Ms. Merchant held progressive management roles in Wall Street English, spanning a range of business areas including franchise business management, education management, training, auditing and working with a global network of franchisees.
Service Director, English Language
Sarah joined the New Horizons English division at the start of 2016 and holds the Cambridge DELTA qualification. She has many years’ teaching experience in various countries and multicultural settings and before joining New Horizons English worked as a Director of Studies at a UK private language school. Sarah is committed to ensuring educational progress and an enjoyable experience for all students through quality teaching and meaningful learning.
Group Vice President, International Operations and Franchise Development
Michael Smith was promoted to Group Vice President of International Franchise Operations in January 2018 after leading operations in EMEA & APAC since January 2015. Prior to that time, Mr. Smith worked in a number of Regional leadership positions for the Franchisor as well as leading the New Horizons U.K franchise business prior to its sale in 2007. Before focusing on the Learning and Development space in 1996, Mr. Smith spent more than 10 years in leadership roles with a large international transport organization. He has a deep IT industry product knowledge and specializes in the formation, management and development of salesforces in this sector. Mr. Smith is very experienced at developing business relationships around the globe and has a deep understanding of how cultural differences impact businesses.
